In the past the Annual Reports of the Laboratory covered the period 1st September to 31st August but as this arrangement entailed the writing up of three separate reports it has now been modified and in future a full account of the work of the Laboratory will be presented at the monsoon meeting of the Committee in an Annual Report while the work done in the ensuing 5 months would in future be [...] From among these the reports on the samples supplied by the East India Cotton Association and the Millowners' Associations of Bombay and Ahmedabad which represent either the fair average quality of the season's crop or the early arrivals of different varieties are published in the form of Technological Circulars which are freely distributed to the trade and the industry. [...] The following statement gives the names of the standard cottons of the 1936-37 season received for the tests at the Laboratory during the period under review :— BOMBAY. [...] As in the past the results obtained for the tests on the trade varieties of 1935-36 season together with the results of the previous seasons were embodied in the Technological Reports on Trade Varieties of Indian Cottons 1936 which was issued in November 1936. [...] During the period under review the tests on these samples were completed and the results obtained show that neither the wax content nor the fibre properties of any of the 4 cottons register any improvement as a result of the storage of kapas.
