Owing to the magnitude of the scheme which included the complete reorganization and re-equipment of the routes to South Africa and Australia to enable flying boats to be used instead of landplanes it was necessary for the scheme to be introduced by stages. [...] The lake is one of the areas of water scheduled as an emergency alighting place but at the end of the dry season the water was low and the boat was unable to take off again immediately. [...] The next advance for which the company is preparing is the operation of the section Karachi-Madras in one day the provsion of more accommodation for passengers and the elimination of the use of Poona instead of Bombay during the monsoon season. [...] Karachi-Colombo Service.—Four services a week between Karachi and Colombo were maintained from the inauguration of the all-up " mail scheme at the end of February 1938 until the end of July when the number of services was raised to five a week. [...] Karachi-Lahore Service.—Conforming with the changes in the Empire services the frequency of the Karachi-Lahore service was increased to four on 28th February 1938 and to five at the end of July 1938.
