[...] The number of auditors was increased in.the past mainly on thg basis of the increase in the number of credit societies and in the amount of audit tees but no consderation was given to the nature and importance of he audit of the different types of credit societies. [...] 11 In the course of my inspection of the Inncial position of the Central Banks I examined the difficulties of the co-operative societies in realising the dues outstanding from their members. [...] At the same time the policy of consolidation led to the liquidation of a number of soeieties which locIed up a portion of the profit-earning capital of the Central' Banks. [...] The Naogaon Agricutural Association4started a sugar factory and encouraged the cultivation of cane in the ganja mah.al area with a view to supplemetit the income of the members which deteriorattid on account' of the declint in the sale of ganja.
