9. Paddy.—In spite of the lateness of the season and the scarcity of water the yields of paddy are extremely gratifying while owing to the high prices the profits have been greater than ever. [...] In order to avoid this difficulty and ensure the most even distAbution the methods of planting have been arranged to occupy different plots numbered consecutively from the tank in such a way that the numbers of the plots occupied shall at the end of the experiment add up approximately to the same figure. [...] The crops raised with this compost seem quite up to the standard and the practice will be adopted as part of the routine procedure.10 The comparison between the farm and maistries plots was dicontinued and the plots were cropped uniformly this year. [...] The areas under Cambodia for the last"four years are interesting and indicate the increasing popularity of this crop and the enormous increase in the cotton business of the district generally. [...] As before the whole of the crop was removed by the end of June in order to minimise the risk of insect attack ; this practice does not seem to have much effect on the borer judging by the way the present season crop has suffered.
