Department of Agricutlure Madras. Report of the Work of Palur Agricultural Station for 1926-27

An account of the local conditions and agricultural practices in the vicinity of the farm is appended as appendix I to the report. [...] Korai (Oypence rotandua) eradication.—As outlined in the report for the year 1921-25 the policy of deep cultivation and constant shallow cultivation during the fallow season and intercultivation during the growth of the crop was continued during this year. [...] The nest step was to see the effect of cropping on the nuts in the soil. [...] This is due to paddled condition of the crop which prevented aeration of the soil and checked the growth of the weed. [...] (a) Manurial experimente—Pielde 28 to 30.—This is the fifth year of the initiation of the experiment and second year of the intrduction of the modified scheme; the details of manuring are given in last year's report.
