Financial results.-The financial results of the year and the capital expenditure during and to end of the year under review are exhibited in the following statement :- Name of project Capital expenditurReceipts of the year less refunds' Working expenses ense year s of less refunds. [...] The expenditure on navigation was mainly for (1) upkeep of five suction dredgers (2) maintenance of the Hijili Tidal Canal (3) maintenance of existing steamer and boat routes from Calcutta to Ea;tern Bengal and Assam includin the reconstruction of the bridges over the Calcutta Canals and Tolly's Nala tothe cost of which the Calcutta Improvement Trust and the Calcutta Corporation cotributed [...] The expenditure on the Calcutta aird Eastern Canals the Hijili Tidal Canal the Sunderban Steamer Route and the Madaripur Bil Route was Rs. [...] The icreased expenditure on the latter was due to the execution of some special repair works such as strengthening the apron of the Chitpore lock strengthening the banks of the Kristopur Canal replacing the two dwarf gates of the Chitpur Mirk etc. [...] 5. The following statement shown the traffic on the navigAble canals duing the year 1934-35 as compared with the average of the triennium ending March 1934:- Midnapore Canal.
