3. The Madhamati river between the Halifax (Jilt and Mollahat.—At the offtake of the Halifax Cut a'smoother entrance channel has been formed by the crostoil of the west bank at the junction with the Madhumati river and of the east bank a little further down stream of the offtake. [...] The shoaling here; apart from the natural formation on the inside of the bend of the* river was due to the deposition of the spoil eroded in the bight upstream just metioned. [...] At the offtake it was noticed that the northern or left bank of the Mathabhanga river masks the mouth even more markedly than was noticed on the joint inspection of last year making the conditions more similar to the entrance to the Attarabanka river and the entrance more difficult to navigate. [...] Having inspected the conditions in the neighbouhood of the Haturia exit we returned down the Jayanti river entered the Arial Khan river and proceeded up to the north mouth of the Turki Nullah and anchored for the night. [...] Following the erosion of the east bank of the Arial Khan river the debouchure of the Palong Nullah into the Arial Khan river is now situated about miles above the former exit.
