On the question of the relation between forests and the retention of atmospheric and soil moisture a note was put up by the DirectoGeneral of Observatories and on the representations embodied therein the Board considered that the obstacles in the way of collecting reliable information and the expense involved more than counterglanced the benefits which might result. [...] Letters from the Chairman to the Trustees of the Indian Museum and a note by the Superintewdent of the Zoological Section of the Museum embodying proposals for the constitution of a Zoological Survey for India were next considered.
