quence of an omission on the part of the appellant or -party concerned to produce a witness to prove the identity of the party served or of his place of residence a reasonable time shall be allowed for the production of such witness where the omission has been the result of ignorance and when return of the process will not thereby be unduly delayed. [...] I. instead of sending back the notice to the Appellate Court as unserved adjourn the enquiry as to proof Of service and -affoid to the parties a reasonable time not less than seven days for the production of the proof of identification; and a notice of such adjournment and of the time within which the parties are allowed to produce such proof shall be posted up in the St.:L►- ordinate Court. [...] On receipt of the proceeding of the High Court transmitting the notices Of appeal and directing that the notices be served it shall be the duty of the Lower Court thereupcn to cause service of the notices without the payment of any further fee save and except as prvided in this rule (proviso 2) and without any further action by the appellant : (1) Provided that the appellant or some one emp [...] (a) The attention of all Civil and Criminal Courts in Bengal and Assam is invited to the following departmental instructions issued by the Director-Geeral of the Post Office with the approval of the Goverment of India for the guidance of Postmasters on the subject-of the production of Post Office Records before Courts. [...] The attention of the Courts is directed' t' the fact that the Governor General in Council has declared that the provisions of section 29 of the Code of Civil Procedure apply to the Courts in Ceylon and the Straits Settlements and also to the courts in France Spain Belgium Russia Portugal and to the Egyptian Mixed Courts.
