Annual Report of the Varendra Research Society for 1927-28

On the 7th August 1927 when H. E. the Governor and the Hon'ble Lady Jackson visited the Museum the members met to accord them a cordial welcome and to represent to their Excellencies the financial difficulties of the Society. [...] On account of the growing collection as well as in view of the share of Paharpur antiquities which the Society expects to get before long the expansion of the galleries has become a pressing necessity. [...] Owing to the editor having gone away to the Punjab the progress was slow the 128th page being finished to the end of the year. [...] The printing of the List of Inscriptions which was held up for want of the readings of the Arabic and Persian inscriptions was resumed and is completed except the Index which is in the press; No Monograph I regret to report was issued during the year but one on Mahasthan and its environs is in hand and is expected to be issued in 1928. [...] Concluding Remarks :—Besides the task of carrying on research and exploration on a proper scale we are immediately faced with the necessity of expanding the galleries of the Museifm the library arid the store-rooms for our publications and of carrying out improvements to the ditch west of the compound.
