The Governor-General in Council however declares that the allowances or produce of lands which may be resumed will be appropriated to no other purpose but that of defraying the expense of the police; and that instructions will be sent to the Collectors not to add such.allowances or the produce of such lands to the jumma of the proprietors of land but to collect the amount from them separatel [...] The sum to be received by the purchaser of purchasers during the unexpired part of the term of the' lease of the farmer and the jumma to be paid by such purchaser or purchasers alter the expiration of the lease shall be specified at tlie time of the sale and such purchaser or purchasers and his or her or their heirs and lawful successors shall be allowed to hold the lands at the assessment at [...] I. IN the British territories in Bengal the greater part of the materials required for the numerous and valuable manufactures and most of the other principal articles of export are the produce of the lands : it follows that the commerce and consequently the wealth of the coutry must increase in proportion to the extension of its agriculture. [...] The amount of it was fixed upon at estimate formed by the public officers of the aggregate of the rents payable by the ryots or tenants for each beegah of land in cultivation of which after deducting the epenses of collection ten-elevenths were usually considered as the right of the public and the remainder the share of the landholder. [...] The seals of the Collectors in Bengal and Orissa are to bear an inscription to the following effect in the Bengal and Persian characters and languages and the seals of the Collectors in Behar a similar inscrition in the Persian character and language and the Hindoostanee language and Nageree character : The seal of the Collector of the zillah of VI.
