Mysore-Madras Arbitration 1913-1914. Madras Exhibits filed in connection with issues 1 & 2

1914

It is the contention of Madras that it is for the arbitrator with the assisance of the assessor carefully to examine the working conditions of the reservoir and have as accurate a forecast of these conditions as it is possible to make before coming to a decision on the point at issue which is whether the refusal of assent to the construction of the proposed reservoir is justified. [...] A study of the conditions will show that the effective capacity of the reservoir is taken as the capacity down to cill level of the head sluice of the canal taking off from the reservoir. [...] ABSTRACT.—Ordering that a letter be sent to the Government of India requesting that the estimates of the British Cauvery reservoir project be recommended for the sanction of the Secretary of State without delay as the question of its settlement is independent of the acceptance or rejection of the Mysore Cauvery Reservoir Project. [...] dated 11th April 1911 I am directed to forward for the infomation of the Government of Madras and for any remarks which that Government may desire to make a copy of the margnally-noted correspondence regarding the proposal of the Mysore Durbar to construct a reservoir on the Cauvery river within the limits of the Mysore State. [...] 3. His Highness the Maharaja's Government have been in correspondence with the Madras Government since November last with the object of obtaining the consent of the latter to the construction of the reservoir.
