A mile and half before reacing the encamping grinind the blutlo disappear and there is a tine strip of cull ivated laud to the left with room enough to camp a division ; there is a little grass but the main stream id the river flows on the other side at the pass and from it water has usually to he fetched. [...] The first 21 miles is a stony tract up the valley the hills gradually approaching each other ; on the opposite side of the river is Kurgan a remarkable place ; first is a strip of cultivable land backed by a low ridge of hills and behind these and totally concealed by them is a highly cultivated little valley with a village; this is the only place in the pass where any supplies at all can be pr [...] Of the two the Moolla is the most easy and it is always safe wing to the peacable nature of the tribes who reside in the vicinity. [...] The character of the Moolla and also tl at of the Bolan is that of a drainage channel from the big dand of Khelat to the Kutehee plain ; it finds a circuitous way through the limestone ridges which rising one beyond the other in apparently endless succession run generally north and south. [...] A chief village of the Shah Saolee tribe of the Brahuis: The road from ooroo descends into a dry river bed on the farther side of the low hills ; turning again to the left it runs along the base for miles then for the same distance over a tore and open plain where it is closed by a high ridge running at right angles to the track.
