Soil and water conservtion has as its objective the keeping of rainfall on the soil near the place where the rain falls for the production of the maximum amount of useful things which people need and then conducting the excess runoff from the land slowly under control so that soil erosion is reduced to a minimum. [...] The reclamation begins at the top of the gullies formed out of the fertile rich brolim loam soil and continues down to the river bank. [...] Invariably the surplus water outlet is built of loose stone and is in the middle of the bund. [...] and the Land Improvement Officer co-ordinates the work of the various branches. [...] The contour was not being strictly adhered to and the importance of building bunds along the contour was stressed.
