Table I shows the superior staff of the department the pesonnel of the staff the changes in the personnel and the number of clays spent by each officer on tour. [...] The difference between the value of the produce and the rent and other expenses of cultivation consttutes the margin of subsistence and prfit to the cultivator. [...] In the meantime arrangements have been made to take advantage of a rise in the price of jute which has taken place since the close of the year and to make the best collection possible in the circumstances though the prospects of such collection have been marred by the floods which affected several areas in Northern and Eastern Bengal since the close of the year. [...] Although the members of the society are deriving great benefit from the weir the society has not been able to repay anything to the Central Bank owing to the recusancy of the members. [...] The Balavpur Society in Midnapore has been hampered in its working by the suit brought by the Narajole Estate in respect of the Cossye fishery the lease of which had been granted to the society by the Collector of Midnapore.
