FULL SUPPLY LEVEL AT THE HEAD OF THE CANAL (Page 10 of Executive Engineer's Report) (1) The reduced level of maximum supply on the downstream side of the head regulator during the Kharif season has been fied by the Inspector General of Irrigation and the Chief Engineer at 190'90 that. of the top of the regulating gates of the barrage being 192 and the zero of the gauge [...] The quantity required before the 1st of June and after the middle of September would be small and the maximum demand would be from the middle of June to the middle of September i.e for about 90 days instead of for about 60 days at present. [...] Again on page 44 he shows that the average discharge of the Ryve's and Pulleru Canal from the 10th of June to the end of November 1893 was 1800 cusecs and the area cultivated 203 000 acres giving a duty of 113 for the average discharge at the heads of the canals equivalent probably to about 146 at the field. [...] (13) Duty of 45 recommended The following is obtained as the probable duty based upon the average discharge of the season at the heads of the distributaries "[ 9 1. Deduced from the average Kharif duty for the twelve years ending 1906-07 of Sukkur Ghar and Western Nara Canals. [...] of the culturable area in the year; but as the water level rises the percentage of the total area for which Nyder will be given is reduced; and when the spring level is 10 to &I feet below the surface the supply will be withdrawn altogether or given only for one crop in the year.
