The disease is spread through the medium of the secretions and excretions of the body. [...] On the second or third day small vesicles appear in the mouth and are to be found under the tongue and on the insides of the lips. [...] The causal organism of the disease exists in a state of nature in soil and water and gains entrance to the system through the agency of cotaminated food and water and by means of wounds. [...] The cause of the disease is an organism which exists in the soil and gains entrance to the body by means of a small wound on the foot or leg or in the mouth. [...] An examintion of the mouth will reveal small blisters from the size of a millet seed to that of a pea on the surface and sides of the tongue and somtimes on the gums and insides of the cheeks.
