In view of the probable opening of the Benares bridge in July of the current year the beginning of the works ought not to be delayed. [...] Four piers of the Sind Bridge have been built to a height of 35 feet above the bed of the river the masonry of the south abutment has been carried. [...] portion being the gaps at culverts and bridges the approaches to the Dussan Bridge and a piece of rock-cutting in the approach to the Betwa Bridge. [...] The scheme prevously authorized comprised the remodelling of the yard the provision of additional godown accommodation and the erection of an overbridge on the Barrackpore road. [...] The alterations at the Sealdah terminus and the remodelling of the sidings were completed during the year and the interlocking apparatus was brought into working on 22nd August.
