Clad in old dirty muddy clothes which rub against the yclean flanks of the cow which introduce thousands of bacteria into the bucket and the milk the milkers (Ahirs or Gawalas for Cow and Gajjars for buffaloes ) scat themselves generaly to the left of the animal and not to the right a practice that appears more logical to the author for the animals are used to be approached on the left [...] " Rapidly going over the actual zootechnique the author describes and explains the principles of rational milkincleanliness of the place of the cow of the milker and of the receptacles a rapid gentle and ragular milking with dry and whole hands by a calm and skilled milkman. [...] The manipulations of udder in the Hegelund's Method of milking may be described as follows assuming that the milking side is chosen to be the left side of the_animal First Manipulation.—The two left quarters of the udder are pressed against each caner with the right hand on the hind quarter and the left hand in front on the left forquarter the thumbs being placed on the outside of the udder [...] The milk is drawn by firmly seizing the base of the teat between the first finger and the first portion of the thumb and then pressing the teat by closing the fingers successively beginning with the middle finger and eaiing with the little one. [...] By the removal from the herd of the poorest milkers and by using the phenomenal ones as the foundation for future development of the herd a double improvement can be accomplished and better prices realised for the bulls cows and calves that are bred for sale These better prices are a direct consequence of the high milk yeilds of the dams and the good milking pedigrees of the sires.
