Chambers the First Inspector of Factories was transferred to the Military Department on 19th April 1915 and the charges of districts since then allotted to Inspectors are as follows :- To the Chief Inspector—the factories in the Town and Island of Bombay lying on the east of the G. I. P. Railway Line and those in the Thina and Nasik districts in addition to his own duties. [...] To the Fourth Inspector—part of the factories in the Ahmedabad City and the Ahmedabad district and those situated in the Sind. [...] One of the hoist accidents -mentioned illustrates the ridiculous things that lead to fatal results In this case a man loosened the balance weights of a hoist without having taken the precaution of suspending the cage by the brake or with wedges with the result that the cage descended on him from the top of its run. [...] The belt was too tight causing the blower pulley to spring and touch the flame of the blower and in endevouring to locate the defect lie put his hand ou the pulley and was caught between the pulley and belt causing him to be thrown violently to the ground. [...] By hoist C) In the first case the deceased was working with the balance weight and ropes in the hoist cage ou the ground floor the hoist fell from the second floor on his head and the man was killed instantly.
