The increase in price due to the adoption of the practice of marking goods according to grades does not necessarily involve the passing to the primary producer of the whole of the increase. [...] Khurody of the Central Markeing Staff who pointed out that inspite of the fact that grading had led to improvement in the quality of hides tanners were generally unwilling to buy on the basis of grades and were rather critical of the existing arrangements for grading and marking. [...] Khurody of the Central Marketing Staff gave an account of the progress of the ghee grading scheme and referred to the problem of high acidity in ghee during the monsoons. [...] Tandon of the Central Marketing staff outlined the progress of tobacco grading in the two provinces of Madras and Bihar and said that the collection of data regarding different kinds of tobacco products manfactured in various Provinces and States was still in progress. [...] Livingstone said that the Advisory Board of the Imperial Council of Agricultural Research 'wanted the Annual Reports from the Provinces and States to be very brief and it was therefore desirable that the sugestions made in the circulated paper on the subject should be carefully followed.
