The amount was made over to the Society with the stipulation that it should be invested and the annual proceeds disposed of for charitable purposes under the name of the Sassoon Fund '. One-third of the net monthly income amounting to Rs. [...] In accordance with the wishes of the donor the incomeis to be made over to the Indian Committee for the relief of the native poor of Calcutta. [...] At the request of the subscribers one half of the interest is to be spent for the benefit of native paupers td be paid through17 the Indian Committee the balance being devoted to the general purposes of the Society. [...] (Vide list of Trust Funds in the Annual report of the District Charitable Society for 1900).20 The proceeds of the above fund are stated to have been credited to the Committee's Reserve Fund (vide Report of the Native Committee for the year 1900) and the fund has been thereafter named as Native Committee's Reserve Fund in the Reports of the Society. [...] The brothers died in 1901and 1903 respectvely and Probate of the will of the latter was obtained by the Administrator-General in 1903 who however saw a difficulty in determining the share of the Estate due to the Society under the terms of the will A friendly suit had to be instituted and by the consent of all the parties an order was obtained from the High Court on the 3rd June 1907 by
