The outstanding event of the year was the Exhibition of Modern Indian Art in London which was organised by the India Society and which was opened by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of York on December the 10th 1934. [...] The Secretary to the Agent to the Governor General in Central India has conveyed the thanks of the Indore Government to the Director of the School of Art for the useful suggestions made in the report for the proper preservation of the paintings. [...] The number of students on the rolls of the Drawing and Painting Modelling and Architectural Sections of the School of Art on the 31st March 1935 was 439 as against 425 of the previous year :— Boys. [...] The subject " A Village Market"15 in India was fully explained in the Examination paper which furnished the following detailed explanation to the candidates of what was required by the Examiners :—" It is necessary to show men and women with children purchasing things ; in fact the usual daily scene which is typical of India." In spite of this some of the candidates executed a version of the sub [...] The Design paper for the Elementary Examination was considered a fairly stiff one this year ; but it only required the candidates to make a slight change in regard to the details for the design from the customary examinations in the past.
