The College and Hostel accommodation as established during the first year were adequate for the students of the first course and no modifications were made during the second year except about the end of the year when alterations and additions were in progress to provide for the increase in the number of students expected in April 1940 for the second course (1940-42). [...] All types of forests were visited and their silviculture and management studied from the tropical wet evergreen forests of the Western Ghats through the important teak forests of Bombay and Madras to the dry fuel forests and from the littoral forests on the sea shore to the temperate forests of the Nilgiri mountains. [...] Sports.—The Indian Forest College was able to join with the Forest Research Institute and the Indian Forest Ranger College in the Annual Sports held on April 6th 1940 when the Indian Forest College teams won the relay race and the tug-of-war and the College students acquitted themselves creditably in the various athletic events. [...] for his unfailing interest advice and assistance in the matters connected with the College and his appreciation and thanks for the way in which he and all the other officers and their wives at New Forest have helped in the athletic and social sides of the College life. [...] As the students are at New Forest during part of the hot weather the need is felt for a swimming bath.15 The staff of the college consists nominal of only two :—the Principal and Professor of Forestry and the Lecturer in Surveying and Engineering.
