The 'rich Ajay tries to dissuade his poor but best friend Asoke from this resolve and entreats him to come along to England to study together. [...] In the face of a national scourge and in an effort to wipe it out Asoke is not shaken and the entreaties and requests of a life-long friend: and his beautiful sister Pratibha fall on deaf ears. [...] The villagers are moved and -are about to fall in with Asoke but Chowdhury the village -headman disapproves of Asoke and his scheme. [...] Pratibha cannot see her beloved in trouble a thought strikes her she effiploys Chandan to carrthe money to Asoke and extracts a promise from -Chandan never to disclose the fact. [...] Chowdhury in his invocation to the green-eyed God swears vengeance on Asoke and his crops _ and in the dead of night stealthily marches to the field bent upon mischief.
