Legislative Assembly Debates. Friday 24th February 1933. Official Report

1933

Reduction in the number of Members of the Railway Board and in the pay of the Superior Officers of the Railway Board. [...] I would draw your attention to the fact that the motion is for a reduction of Rupees one lakh and 50 000 and the question that is dealt with is the reduction in the number of Members of the Railway Board and in the pay of Superior Officers. [...] If the Honourable Member would confine his remarks to the reduction of the Members of the Railway Board and in the pay of the Superior Officers of the Railway Board there will be no cause for complaint. [...] He should confine himself to the reduction of the Members of the Railway Board and in the pay of the Superior Officers of the Railway Board and not introduce extraneous matter. [...] Sir it is said that the mileage of the State-managed Railways has increased but I would point out that the cost of the connected Secretariat has increased much more in proportion to the increase in the mileage and certainly nobody would claim that as the mileage has increased the -number of officers will increase in the same proportion.
