STATEMENT (a) The most important recommendation of the Panel on Silk Industry is the setting up of a Central Silk Board 0.o constituted as to bring together the knowledge and interests of all Silk producing parts of the Country for the development of the Sericultural industry in India. [...] The other recommendations of the Panel relate to the planning of the future expansion of. the industry—firstly by consolidating the present position and later by increasind; the acreage under mulberry cultivation and indigenous production of raw-silk. [...] A scheme for the manufacture of dye-stuffs under the iiiispices of the Governments of \Vest fbengal and :Bihar and the Damodar Valley Corporation is under consideration. [...] Shri R. K.
