Proceedings of the Legislative Council of the United Provinces. Wednesday 25th March 1925. Official Report

1925

Afterwards the Government sent a draft of the lease the terms of which were so very harsh in relation to the interests of the tenants and their houses on the land that the committee and others did not approve it. [...] I am of opinion that the grievaucea of the tenants should be redressed as soon as passible and the question should be decided keeping the right of the Government on the land in view favourably to the tenants. [...] The proposals of the committee.should be submitted to Government se -that they may find it easy to adopt them both in the interests of the Government and in the interests of the ;tenants who have been residing in the land. [...] The reason for the first suggestion is that the sub-divisional officer who Cs in charge of the partition work of his pargana takes up the work ab the fag end of the court work and the result is that he hurriedly goes through most important issues involved in the proceedings for example the distribution of land (of similar quality and advantates) among the co-sharers etc. [...] I only wish to draw the attention cf the Court of Wards to the fact that it should impress upon the Collectors the necessity of inspecting Court of Wards offices and the work of managers in other respects.
