1932

I will first deal with the Second Part as it puts forward the folloing recommendation for the consideration of the Corporation as set out in paras 11 and 12 of the Report:— With a view to studying the question of silting up of the Ilidymihart or of any future outfall channel the members of the Committee paid two visits to the existing suburban stormwater reservoir into which the sewage now fl [...] With the rise of the bed level (and cosequently low water level) of the I3idyadhari the reservoir has naturaly silted and its bed has risen the rate of discharge of sewage diminishing with the gradually.Jecreasing depth of escape. [...] He explained that swamp water would be intercepted from the north side of the channel only as the storm water channel prevented its interception from the south and eXpressed the opinion that the swamp water available from the strip Of land lying between the D. W. channel and the Banghar Khal supplemented if necessary by Water from the Bhangar Khal itself would provide a very effective flush. [...] Dey that this method of calculating the discharging capacity of his channel was fundamentally wrong in that he assumed that the surface slope of the water in the channel would be uniform from end to end at different stages of the tide whereas it would actually be flattened at the downstream and 'directly the tide level rose to the water level inside the sluice. [...] A rainfall of inch in the 24 hours may be assumed as the quantity to be drained off the whole of the catchment area which is the experience of the Raja.pur and other similar drainage works in this province.
