Shri M. L. Dwivedi: What is the nature of assistance being given by the Centre to the cause of ophthalmo- logy, and what are the sums of money distributed to the various hospitals? [...] Shri Gidwani: Will the Minis- ter of 'Railways be pleased to state: (a) whether it is a fact that a de- putation from Hyderabad led by the Secretary of the Central Railway Hamals Federation waited upon the General Manager of the Central Rail- way and protested against the re- introduction of contract system of labour for loading and unloading of the goods in Railway yards on the 19th May, 1953; an [...] Government ac- cepted the view of the Committee ap- pointed by them to enquire into the closure of the mine, namely that, owing to a serious and unavoidable decline in production, the steep fall in the price of gold and the exhaustion of ore, it was no longer practicable for the management to operate the mine profitably. [...] On the recommendation of the Committee, the Government of Mysore have permitted the transfer of the lease so as to enable exploita- tion of the residuary ore in the mine.
