[...] You may urge, and perhaps justly, my limitations as a Westerner, but Um absolute regard for the accepted Meanings of words that one uses is the primary condition of frank and useful discussion, and in the present case, as everywhere and always, the accuracy of the word is one and the same with the accuracy of idea. [...] The genius of the Greeks and of the Hebrews conceived humanity as a whole ; the former conceived man in the domain of philosophy, and the latter in that of religion.
