THE influence of the War on the operations of the Civil Veterinary Department was increasingly manifest during the year. [...] In view of the importance of maintaining the standard of work cattle, the cost of the establishment during the year of a small stud of Awankari cattle at the Tarnab Agricultural Station has been borne by Provincial revenues with the object of eventually supplying pure bred bulls to districts. [...] though the time is not'very propitious for the importation of fresh rams The experimental trial of Pusht-i-Kuh rams, also, at the suggestion of the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf conveyed through the Government of India, has, been decided upon in the course of the year. [...] It is impracticable, therefore, to extend the activities of the Department at present, in spite of the scope which exists for effort in many directions for the prevention of disease, the improvement of stock, and. the diffusion of veterinary knowledge amongst the people. [...] At the close of the year there were 13 horses and 7 pony stallions Numbcr of stallions —Table x. in the non-selected districts and agencies of the Province, or one less than the sanctioned scale, against 12 horse and 7 pony stallions in the previous year.
