Similarly his views with regard to the relaxation of the rigour of the law regarding revenusales remission of the taxation on justice and the vpropriation of a part of the surplus derived from 'HA source for securing greater efficiency in the subordinate judiciary the appointment of Districlt Judges from the Bar selection of the Law Member of the Governor-General’s Council from amongst the e [...] As a very recent instance of this we may refer to the proceedings of the last meeting of the Governor-General’s Council and the speeches of the Hon’ble Mr. [...] The present tendency of the Indian Legislature to put restraints on the aliention of land is much deplored by the educated comunity in this country and they from the teacings of their own laws and the knowledge of modern economics are bound to agree with the views so ably expressed by Sir Roland Wilson in the January number of the same journal. [...] Ameer All is right in attempting to avail of the charitable institution of wakf for the purposes of family aggrandisement and the introduction amongst the Mussalman comunity of the moribund institution of English entail and all the morbid sentiments of an alien aristrcraoy regarding family-pride and heirlooms which are repugnant alike to the Hindu and the Mahomedan mind. [...] If any reason of State not clear to an outsider stands in the way of abolishing this anomalous tax I would suggest that some portion of the surplus might be utilised for the purpose of improving the judicial branches of the public service which certainly need strengthening and improvement in the matter of emolument and prestige.
