The Court held that since the knowledge of the %gent was the knowledge of the principal the Railway Company were liable in consequence of their agent who had small-pox having communicated the disease to the Plaintiff. [...] The reason for charing the principal with the knowledge of the agent is.that the agent is supposed to represent the interest of the principal. [...] At the end of the introductory chapter however the learned editors summarise the main topics dealt with as follows :-- First they describe generally the character of the different systems that underlie the jurisprudence of the legal world and their relations to the present law of the British dominions.. [...] It only remains to mention that Chapter II in the first part deals with the "Laws of the rfhpire of India" the term embracing the laws of the Protected States add the "Juridical Constitution of the Empire of India" meaning thereby British 293"oox.olv THE CALCUTTA WEEKLY NOTES. [...] The bulk of the capital thereof was held by the relatives of one Khoo Syn Thuak who were nine of the members of the firm.
