Even before the war however there was a marked tendency on the part of great exeducive officers" in spheres other than the Government of India to orerrVie the law and the tendeney way possibly grow eisu stronger when on the conclusion of the war the functions of the State are increased. [...] 157 of the Act in corroboration of the evidence of the witness given at the trial made the amendment of sec. [...] Those who take this view think that the activities of the investigating police will in that case be more fruitful than now and instances of prosecutions launched at considerable expense of public money failing in the end on the ground of defect in the confessional evidence which was the mainstay of the case for the Crown will be much fewer. [...] The Rule was made absolute the order of the President set aside and the application for santion remanded to the President for adjudication upon the merits. [...] The latter insured his life from a place in the Chittagong District and died susequently in a place in the Noakhali District and the present suit was instituted in the Court of the Munsif of that place (Fein).
