While joining the Bengal Government in its desire “to see the scope of the activities of the Society extendnd ” and in “commending it to the notice of the charitable ” we should also venture to draw the attention of the Government to the fact stated in the Society’s Report that the recent withdrawal of Government binding work from the institution seriously interfered with the good work that the So [...] The powers proposed to be taken by the Secretary of State at the same time lir the creation of chartered High Courts in provinces with the sanction of the Crown also obviously refer to the raising of the Chief CO4rts in Burma and the Punjab to the status f chartetal high Courts and we presume that in the cotitst of time there may be a chartered High Court in the Central Provinces also. [...] THE ABSURDITY OF ANY SCHEME FOR ESTAlishment of a High Court at Dacca would he apparent to any one who has any idea of the geographical position of Dacca and of the division of work on the Appellate Side of the Calcutta High Court At present the appellate work of the bulk of Eastern Bengal and Assam is done by the Division Bench in charge of the Raj. [...] [To THE EDITOR OF THE "CALCUTTA WEEKLY NOTES."] you kindly allow me through the columns oftyour influential journal to draw the attention of the Hon'ble Judges of the High Court to certain alterations recently made in the circular orders regarding the expenses of witnesses for special application to the Province of Eastern Bengal and Assam. [...] 214: Held—That the question of the period of the enjoyment of the right of.easement floes not arise in the case and that the case of the chowkidar is different from that of an ordinary tenant and so the principle enunciated in Goddard's book is not applicable.
