We ought however to mention that the charges at the trial as also some other facts disclosed in the case such as the inter6olations in the Station Register and the Division Register have brought serious discredit on the methods of the Subordinate Police in Calcutta. [...] TURNING TO THE SECULAR SIDE OF THE CASE WE are glad that their Lordships of the Judicial Comittee have affirmed the decision of the Courts in India dismissing the Plaintiff's suit upon the merits as well as on the ground of estoppel. [...] A further commendable feature of the judgment is that the finding of their Lordships on the evidence closes the door to further litigtion by persons other than the widow and claiming to be the reversionary heirs of the deceased Raja. [...] It was contended that as the charge was one of perjury in the course of judicial proceedings the proceedings in this case being wholely fictitious and the Plaintiff and the Defendants being imaginary persons the affidavit and 'allegations in the case were only imaginary and did not constitute or amount to perjury in the proper sense of the term.
