THE FOLLOWING ACCOUNT OF THE OPENING OF the Supreme Court at Calcutta which we reprduce from Smoult and Ryan's Rules and Orders of the Supreme Court will solely beefound of interest by the public and the profession :- THE OPENING OF THE SUPREME COURT. [...] John Stuart Mill : Thereds a great difference for example) between the case in which the nations concerned are of the same or somthing like the same degree of civilisation and that in which one of the parties to the situation is of a high and the other of very low grade of social improvement. [...] The greater the unfitness of the former the greater the duties imposed on the latter. [...] The Law of Partnership is one of the few branches of the law which has been codified in England But the work had already passed through five edition4efore the Partnership Act was passed in 189o and in the sixth edition the sectionsqt....the Act were incorporated with the text of ;treatise which was for that purpose carefarrevised but of which the general' arrangement and characteistic feature [...] In the course of the trial the coplainant moved the Sub-Divisional Magistrate for a transfer of the case from the file of the said Honorary Magistrate and on the 13th May 1912 the Sub Divisional Magistrate transferred the case to the file of Babu A. C. Mandal Honrary Magistrate who fixed the case for hearing on 2ist May 1912.
