1913

The decision in Taramoni v. Mod Buniani on the other hand was based entirely on sentiment the sentiment of the Pandit of the Sudder Dewani Adulut a sentiment which presumably reflected the opinion of the Hindu community at the time. [...] The Pandits—sturdy moralists—were quite prepared to allow the claims of kinship of the degraded relations and the sentiment of the lay public certainly goes with them :n this respect. [...] Whether the recognition of the right of the undegraded relations of a degraded woman to inherit her estate on the grounof kinship will have a reflex action on the position of the woman we need not pause to inquire. [...] The decision of the Full Bench so far as it goes appears to us to be on the whole opposed to the sentment if not also to the best interests of the Hindu community. [...] Every endeavour has been made not merely to annotate the language of the sections but also to explain the generapurpose of each section and to this end the provisions of the English Bankruptcy Acts of 1883 and 18ao and those of the Provincial Insovency Act of 1907 are reproduced at the end of the work for comparision and reference.
