If as was prognosticated something of the full s: use of responsibility has been removed from juries by the estab:ishment of the Court of Criminal Appeal it is satisfactory to find that the highest traditions of British Justice are pre— served by tbat Court and that even under the greatest stress of national feeling impartial tteatnient is accorded to the alien as well as to the native—born [...] Nothing could more redound to the credit of our administration of justice than the quashing of the conviction for high treason of the ex—German Consul of Sunder— land by the Full Court of Appeal on the morrow of the inquest on the victims of the murderous attack on open towns in that district by vessels of his native State.
