Although M. A. degree at the older English Universities is conferred as a matter of course on graduates of a certain standing on the payment of the requisite fees still the election to the Bar Council shows that within nine years of his call the Chief Justice elect had acquired some distinction as a member of the junior Bar. [...] Justice Sankaran Nair has been appointed a Member of the Executive Council of the Viceroy and GovernoGeneral of India with the Education portfolio the Government of India have thought fit to requisition a Law Member as in the past from England. [...] The majority of the Court of Appeal held that oh an examination of the scheme of the Act it appeared that the section referred to a lessee who was himself the licence-holder although there was nothing in the context of the section to warrant that view. [...] They might be so interpreted where the scheme appearing from the language of the Legislature read in its entirety pointed to consistency as requiring the modification of what would be the meaning apart from any context or from the purpose of the legislation as appearing from the words which the Legislature had used or from the general law. [...] benefit of the tie The language of the statutes threw no light on the matter and that being so the duty of the Court was simply to interpret the words used in accordance with their natural significtion.
