The instructions are confined to the imparting of a scientific training in the legal principles from the early Roman times to the gradual growth and development of the no less valuable priciples of the English common law and equity. [...] Every law sl udent at the English Universities is expected also to acquire a historical and practical knowledge of the development of the English Constitutional law as also of the law of real property and a study of the public intenational law lends width to their views. [...] The American system on the contrary comenced at the wrong end and in the course of the last century has attempted to combine the two systems in some of the well-known law schools. [...] Redlich cosists " in the analytical decomposition of the case and the distillation of the legal principle contained in it "—watched and criticised by the teacher. [...] Of the many new matters introduced in the present edition not the least valuable is the compilation of the enactments of the Imperial and Local Legislatures regulaing several varieties of impartible estates to which is added Hie Pachis Sawal "—the.rcord of the customs of the Orissa Chiefs.
