We understand the High Court of Calcutta insists upon pleaders in the Mofussil who are appointed " Receivers " or " Common Managers " notifying the fact to the High Court and it seems also to be the case that the High Court invariably refrains from suspending the lucky nominees to such appointments? [...] The cult of exclusive worship at the shrine of the law would indeed be difficult to enforce in the present crowded state of the profession were the High Courts really willing to act as its Inquisitions within their respective provinces. [...] Kanjilal for providing them' from the outset with a commentary of this enactment which makes the fullest use of the precedents which have crathered round the provisions of the English Ac6t the archetype of all these Rent statutes. [...] 25 the claimant was not entitled to receive any excess over the amount awarded by the Collector : Held—From the reference made to the petition by the claimant himself and by the Collector it appears to have contained somthing in the nature of a claim and in the c:cumstances the petition of the 18th Febrnary should be regarded as a claim duly made by the claimant pursuant to the notice ti [...] The case of the Petitioner came on for trial before the 2nd Presidency Magistrate on the 5th January 1920 and he was acquitted of the charge.
