The following observations made in the columns of the Law Times will show that debate in the House of Lords on the Dyer case and the adoption of Lord Finlay's motion in that case by a majority in the Upper House is of no more constitutional value than the pasing of a similar resolution by a debating society. [...] after a debate of two days by a majority of 128 to eighty-six of the motion of Lord Finlay amounted to a distinct vote of censure on the Government as it called upon the House of Lords to condemn the conduct of the case of General Dyer as " unjust to that officer and as establishing a precedent dangerous to th© preservation of order in the face of rebellion." This sweeping condemntion of th [...] The existence of the daughter was no bar to an immediate suit for a declaration by the nearest collateral and the starting point for limitation was the date of the alienation. [...] The words " all orders " are restricted by the words " in the matter of the winding up of a Company." The section does not apply to an order made by the liquidating Judge in respect of the rmuneration of a person employed by the Official Liquidator sanctioned by the Judge'predecesor in office. [...] Against this order the judgmendebtor moved the High Court and obtained this Rule : - Held—That in the face of the discrepancy in the value of the property as stated by the judment-debtor on the one hand and the decreholder on the other an enquiry into the proximate value of the property should be held.
