The test of efficiency of the police is the detect ion of crime and if the efficiency of the police in this country is to he increased the whole section should be wiped out of the statute book. [...] The current number of the Journal of the Society of Comparative Legislation and Intenational Law recently received is unusually rich in the treatment of top:cal subjects most of which have grown out of the unsettled conditions left by the cessation of the war. [...] R. Magajims of Japan to bring about " with the object of promoting justice by the co-opertion:of the members of the Bar throughout the world." The Journal of Ca reparative Legilation am! International Law certainly shows no sign of the weary cynicism which is said to have gripped the world since the cessation of the war. [...] The Indian Evidence Act has been expressly based upon the English Law of Evidence modified to suit the requirements of India and in commenting on the sections of the Act English cases are freely referred to to explain the origin and nature and development of the principles of the English law and reference is made to Indian eases to show how and why these principles have been modified in appling
