Ram Kinkar' 4 pr3decessor in title had received a primogeniture sanad in 1863 but the estate had been placed in List IV prepared under the provisions of the Oudh Estates Act 1869 and the main question at issue between the parties was whether in determining the succession to the estate the limitations contained in the sanad should be considered or whether placing the estate in List IV made the pr [...] The suit was brought by the Appellants to restrain the Corporation from taking proceedings for the acquisition of the Appellants' property for the construction of a Dharmsala on the Kalighat Road. [...] With characteristic thoroughness he followed up his juristic analysis of the Sraddha " cermonies by tracing the development of the principles of the law of inheritance which lay in germ in these ceremonies through the texts and treatises and the charging historical circumstances of what he called the Middle Ages of Hindu jurisprud ce up to modern times the latest legal writer dealt with b [...] In the rest of the work he proceeded to elucidate develop and work out these principles for use and aplication in the determination of the many practical problems of inheritance which daily demand solution under the Dayabhaga and the Mitakahara Schools of Hindu law as adminitered in the Courts at the present day. [...] The profession will welcome this publicLion which embodies the results of the amenments effected in the Act by the Bengal Court Fees Amendment Act recently passe& by the Bengal Council.
