At the annual dinner of the Hardwicke Society the Lord Chancellor in the (Arse of his speech regretted that eloquen-ce at the Bar was becoming a thing of the pasli. [...] He said that it is not quite out of place in the practice of the legal profession the function of which was to convince the Judge and the Jury. [...] All the same he admitted that in the modern conditions of litigation the presentation of the facts and the law in their logical sequence is —of supreme importance and is helpful both to 25xxvi THE CALCUTTA WEEKLY NOTES. [...] They have held futher with reference to the construction of the same section that " it is clear both from the Code itself and from the provisions of the Limtation Act that the. legislature contemplated that there might be a succession of applications for executions." Before this decision was prnounced the Civil Procedure Amending Act was passed and the Privy Council made the followin [...] (FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.) The special reference which has been made to the judicial Committee to determine the boundary between the Dominion of Canada and the Colony of Newfoundland in the Labrador Peninsula continues to occupy the attention of their Lordships in the Council Chamber.
