We drew attention to the observations of Lord Dunedin made on the 26th of June 1924 regarding the confused condition of the records of some appeals from India which were ebodied in a circular letter issued by the Regitrar of the Privy Council and were published in our columns or the 11th of August 1924 (28 C. W. N. clxxv) for the guidance of all concerned. [...] The practice followed is that it the parties to the appeal are at variance with regard to the inclusion of any document in the paper-book a reference may be made to the Registrar of the Court who determines whether a document is to go in. [...] With regard to such doubtful documents the cost of printing and inclusion of the same in the paper-book would surely be much less than that of taking advice of -counsel with regard tb theix relevancy and if their Lordships' observations be directed tWards the curtailment of the costs of the appeal the course suggested would have the very contrary effect. [...] Lord Phillimore's observations referred to above are reported in the columns of the Times of the 22nd January and are as follows :- In dealing with a Bengal appeal before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council yestgrday Loan Put ettmoag -on behalf of that tribunal made some serious observations in regard to the manner in which the records of the suit and the appeal had been prepared and to [...] 476B against the order of the 6ubordinate Judge by directing the latter to draw up a fresh order in the light of instructions given by the District Judge and the matter might have been allowed to rest there if their Lorships did not say anything further; but in view of the fact that one of the learned Judges lays down his clear opinion that an appeal like the one in question is a criminal appe
