To THE EDITOR " CALCUTTA WEEKLY NOTES." SIR The present law which places the staring point of limitationfor rent suits on a single day in the year is responsible for the institution of the bulk of such suits in the middle of.April.every.year. [...] In the earlier clays of tenancy legislation when the administration of the tenancy law fored a part of the revenue administration of the country and this branch of the litigation and the law was much simpler this system was perhaps found convenient. [...] With the development of the law in later years and increase in the bulk and complexity of the litigation the administration of the tenancy law was transferred toCivil Courts by the Act of 1869. [...] The shifting of the scene of the Collector's cutchery to the Munsif's Court without any provision for regulating the institution of the suits has naturally built up the tradition of the Tamadi day. [...] The fifteenth of April dawns with cart-loads of papers heaped in the office rooms of each Court and the clerks of the Courts have to make the offices 138"ffor.
