[...] The recommendation of the Bar Council that the cut of the Advocate’s robe should be similar to the gown of a King’s Counsel reminds us of an amusing incident that happened in the High Court of Allahabad many years ago. [...] Even when the raising and administration of public revenue were centralised in the Government of India and the provincial Governments only received a dole from the Central Government for carrying on their administration the Goernment of India used to make a substantitl profit out of the administration of justice and appropriate nearly a crore annually towards meeting the cost of general admini [...] As a further instance of the indifference of the Home Department towards the High Court we might mention that in noticing the recent movement in America and England for an increase in the salary of the High Court Judges at least to the extent that the icome-tax has made an inroad in it we sugested that the Government of India might also move in the matter. [...] If the Home Department of the Goverment of India were now entrusted with the duties of supervision and control of the jud-cial administration of seven High Courts and of nine Provinces. the Government India would have to set up a separate Secretariat for the purpose like that of the Railway Board and appoint also a separate departmental Chief for the purpose.
